Hilson Luther Adkins

Hilson Luther Adkins, age 83 of Dothan passed away early Friday morning, September 28, 2018 at his residence under the care of Kindred Hospice, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services for Mr. Adkins will be held at 2PM Sunday, September 30, 2018 in the Family First Funeral Care Chapel with Reverend Josh Alderman officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Family First Funeral Care directing. The family will receive friends from 1PM until service time at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church General Fund, 1461 Timbers Drive, Dothan, AL 36301.

Mr. Adkins was born in Dothan on August 15, 1935 to the late Dawson and Robbie Hicks Adkins. He lived the early part of his life in Ozark and moved to Dothan 63 years ago. Mr. Adkins worked in aircraft maintenance for 32 years as an inventory specialist. Mr. Adkins enjoyed life and never met a stranger. He was a Master Mason with Pythagorus Lodge # 466 in Dothan for many years. He also enjoyed woodworking and fishing. However, nothing in life compared to the love he shared with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Adkins was also a man of faith and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Dothan.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Adkins is preceded in death by a son, Randall Kevin Adkins. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Nell Childree Adkins of Dothan; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Franklin McAliley of Dothan; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Billy Joe and Kathy Adkins of Valdosta, GA and Douglas Adkins of Ozark; five grandchildren, Benjamin McAliley (Kris-Ann) of Dothan, Daniel McAliley (Michelle) of Trussville, Christopher Adam Puciloski (Jessica) of London, UK, John Stephen Puciloski (Jessica) of Tuscaloosa and Jamie Starling (Steven) of Georgetown, GA; seven great grandchildren also survive.
