Christene Thompson (Bowen) Cassady

Christene Thompson Cassady, age 84 of Headland, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 2020, at Flowers Hospital following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Ms. Christene will be held at 3pm Saturday, January 2, 2021 in the Family First Chapel with Pastor Billy Fortune officiating. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Assembly of God church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service time at the funeral home beginning at 2pm. Social distancing guidelines shall be observed.

Ms. Christene was born September 13, 1936 in Houston County to the late John Henry and Flossie Mae Hasty Bowen. She lived all her life in the Wiregrass area. Ms. Christene was a hard worker all her life and retired from American General after several years of hard work. She was always well thought of and always had a loving spirit about her. She loved the Lord, her church and reading the Bible. In her spare time, Ms. Christene enjoyed shopping, fishing, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was a long-time member of Piney Grove Assembly of God church.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Christene was preceded in death by her husband, Bricey “Hoppy” Cassady; a son, Steve Allen; a brother and two sisters. She is survived by her children, Bobby Thompson of Seale, Imogene Thompson of Ashford, Mary Ellen Dunne of Gordon, Bruce (Susan) Cassady of Dothan, Brian (Kim) Cassady of Cowarts, Dawn (Ronnie) Steed of Dothan, Nancy Cassady of Wicksburg and Brad Cassady of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and five sisters. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
