Elsie Morris, age 83 of Dothan, passed away Thursday morning, June 18, 2020, at her residence, surrounded by family and under the care of Encompass Hospice.
Graveside services will be held at 9am Monday, June 22, 2020 in the Cottonwood City Cemetery with Hospice Chaplain Phillip Durr officiating.
Mrs. Morris was born March 21, 1937 in Dothan to the late Thelman and Tommie Marie Merritt Rayburn. After living the early years of her life in Dothan, she moved to various places with her husband and served her role well as a dutiful wife and mother. After being gone from the Dothan area for many years, she returned in the early 1990’s and lived here for the remainder of her life. Mrs. Morris enjoyed knitting and quilting and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, James Morris. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Theresa Sherbonda of Elwood, Iowa and Elizabeth (Larry) Kemper of Eldridge, Iowa; a son, Tom Morris of Dothan; a sister, Ann Vanwinkle of Rossville, GA; her brother, David Rayburn of Clewiston, FL. In addition, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
