James “Colonel” Edgar Glass


Jamie Glass age 74 of Dothan passed away Wednesday, October 31,2023 at Southeast Health following an extended illness.  


A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023, 1 pm at Kingdom Hall (2627 E. Cottonwood Road Dothan, Al) with Brother Mark Casady Officiating.  For those unable to attend, the service will be available via zoom at SOUTHPARK  meeting: 83487578010  password PraiseJAH1. 


Jamie was born February 28, 1949 in Donalsonville, Georgia to Robert E. Glass and Virginia Poole Glass.  After he graduated from Ashford High School he served in the United States Navy from 1968-1972.  After his honorable discharge, he attended Wallace Community College where he obtained his Drafting Degree.  He worked many years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service.  


He was a member and Elder of Kingdom Hall. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family especially his grandchildren playing and rough housing. He liked to sharpen knives, cook, smoke and barbecue meat.    He loved to watch GunSmoke  and Auburn football.   


Jamie is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Virginia Glass; brother in law Mickey Watkins.  


Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sherry Shepard Glass; sons Toby Hinson (Cynthia), Jody Hinson ( Kelli); daughters Summer Taufer (Nate), Holly Tilley; grandchildren Adrian, Brock, Kyron, Austin, Bianca, Kaden, Gavin, Mason, Peyton, Ceili, Ireland, Jude; great grandchildren Sebastian, Theodore; sister Liz Watkins; neice Wendy Parker (James);special friends Mike Crenshaw, Steve Owens, Josh Sanchez; many other relatives and friends.
