Marquis Grubbs

Marquis Grubbs, age 29 of Dothan entered into the Pearly Gates on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Southeast Health following a long, courageous battle with brain cancer. 

Homegoing service will be Saturday, February 3, 2024, 1 p.m. at Dothan Community Church with Pastor Charles Lewis officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2024 fro0m 5-7 p.m. at Family First Funeral Care Chapel. 

Marquis was born October 11, 1994 in Dothan Alabama to Frederick Brunson and Pandra Sharia Huntington Grubbs.  He was humble and determined.  He obtained his GED, February 14, 2019 and CDL license.  He owned and operated Hot Shot Huntington, LLC.  He also worked in construction.  He was an active member at Dothan Community Church.  He knew his Lord and Savior and was baptized in 2018 along with is Mother. 

He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Johnny Huntington and Johnny Thomas; beloved grandmother Anna Marie Huntington; uncles Kenny Bruson and Jerome Huntington; mother of his daughter and significant other, Jamel Land. 

Survivors include his children Marquis Grubbs, Jr, Aviya Grubbs; his parents,  father, Frederick Brunson, beloved mother, Pandra Huntington Grubbs; step father Derrick Nixon; brothers Jacquez Gibson, Kejuan Grubbs, Taveres Black, Darius Brunson, Devontay Williams; sister Pa’Kaysha Grubbs, Dothan, Rokayla Hudspeth, China; grandmother Nelia Brunson grandparents Jewel & Darfet Stenson, Birmingham, AL.; uncles Larry Nixon, Jr., Birmingham, AL., John Brunson (Shirley), South Carolina, Larry Brunson, Dothan, AL., Baron Huntington, Michael Huntington (Alberta), Texas, Dejourdan Stenson; aunts Salina Brunson, Atlanta, GA, Evelyn Clark (Terrance), Dothan, AL, Denise Huntington, Orlando, FL., Jacqueline Brunson, Dothan, AL, Veronica Brunson, Lakeland, Fl., Beverly Settle, Orlando, Fl., Wanda Stinson (Darfet), North Carolina; Joyce Simmons, Montgomery, AL., special aunts Gail Davenport Glasgow and Rodreshia Glasgow; best friend and mother of his son, Synamon Nieves, best friend Mitch Folds; as well as a host of family, cousins and friends. 

The family would like to especially thank the Home Health caregivers Kim, Myra and Teresa for the wonderful care they provided during Marquis’ illness.
