Michael O'Hara Obituary

Michael Paul O’Hara

Michael (Mike) O’Hara, age 83 of Cottonwood, AL went home to be with the LORD Monday, March 18, 2024 with
his nieces, Therese and Michele by his side.
Mike was born November 22, 1940 in Canastota, New York and lived his younger years “on the Terrace”. He
moved with his mother to Hialeah, FL in 1957 and graduated from Hialeah High in 1958. After graduation he
enlisted in the US Army and he proudly served for three years as a paratrooper in the airborne infantry. He then
served another three years in the Reserves after which he was Honorably Discharged. He worked different jobs
in his younger years; driving trucks, putting awnings on homes in the Dothan-Cottonwood area. For several
years he and his wife Anita enjoyed owning the Hilltop Country Store. He later worked at GATES as a factory
worker for many years.
A favorite vacation place of his and Anita’s was Panama City Beach where they enjoyed the night life. Later he
enjoyed spending time with family and friends doing fish fries and watching Atlanta Braves baseball.
He liked tinkering with cars in his younger days. He carried a pilot’s license and flew his own plane over Miami
Beach and the Everglades. He was a jack of all trades from home reconstruction after hurricane damage to
building his own computer. One of his greatest pleasures was helping his neighbors in any way, small or large.
Mike is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anita Louise Mosely O’Hara; his mother, Grace Louise Kimble
O’Hara; brother George Oliver (Mickey) O’Hara; sister-in-law Betty O’Hara (Charles); and nephew Charles
Timothy (Tim) O’Hara. He is also preceded in death by his father Charles Theodore O’Hara.
Survivors include his brother Charles James (Sonny) O’Hara, sister-in-law Marta O’Hara (Mickey), his nieces and
nephews: Therese O’Hara Beaucher, Michele O’Hara Burk, Marc O’Hara, Carrie O’Hara Martin, Kathleen O’Hara

Rinaldo, Eric O’Hara, Timothy (Tim) O’Hara, Paul O’Hara, and Matthew O’Hara. He had many great and great-
great nieces and nephews including Gail Burk Fountain, Andrea Beaucher, and Ronnie Burk. Survivors also

include special family by marriage, Bonnie Whitehead, Keli and Marc Allen, and Brad Jones.
