Paul Wilson Obituary

Paul Grey Wilson, 78, of Graceville, FL, and a long-time resident of Paris, ME passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, on May 31, 2023 in Dothan, AL.

Paul was born in Lewiston, ME on May 1, 1945, a son of Bernard and Lyla (Morgan) Wilson.  He graduated from the first Oxford Hills High School class in 1963 and worked as a furnace technician and plumber.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many games of H-O-R-S-E in the driveway.  In 1980 he successfully tackled alcoholism with the help of Alcoholics Anonymous.  He was, proudly, still sober 43 years later when he passed.  In 1987, seeking a warmer climate, Paul moved to Florida.  There he met and married Virginia Dickey.  They settled in Chipley and Graceville together until her passing in February 2022.  There Paul worked in apartment and property maintenance.   After retiring he tended to his own property, doted on his dogs, Ebot and Baby, and watched NBA games on TV.

Paul is survived by two sons, Mike and his wife Vicky of Winthrop, ME and Mark and his partner Donna Thibodeau of Portsmouth, NH; a step-daughter, Brenda Geisler, and her husband Les of Graceville; five grandchildren; a sister-in-law Sonia Wilson of Paris, ME; and a cousin-in-law Linda “Peachie” Gottenstrater of Graceville.

Besides Virginia, he was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Elliott and Eugene Wilson, his sister Druscilla (Wilson) Ripley, and his best friend of almost 60 years Guy “Trolly” McAllister, Jr.

At Paul’s request there is no service or visitation.  His ashes will come back to Maine to be spread at one of his favorite fishing and hunting spots.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alcoholics Anonymous or your local pet shelter/rescue.
