Ruben Carthon

       Ruben Carthon a resident of Gordon, AL passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at his residence.  He was 84.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Family First Funeral Care Chapel (965 Woodland Drive, Dothan, AL) with Apostle Niprabal Mobley officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, October 15, 2021, from 5-7 p.m. at Family First Funeral Care.

          Deacon Ruben Carthon, at the age of 84, in accordance to God’s will, answered the voice of the Lord on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 calling him to the eternal home of peace.  Ruben was the second child of nine (9) born to Walter and Golda Lee Carthon on December 6, 1936, in Gordon Alabama.  Ruben’s life journey consists of being blessed to be a committed servant of God, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a beloved grandfather.

          Ruben was preceded in death by one (1) daughter—Arlene Carthon; Two (2) sisters—O’neal Short and Ruth “Becky” Carthon; and one (1) brother—George “Wayne” Carthon.

          Upon departure from this life’s journey, he leaves to mourn his memory his devoted wife Barbara Carthon; Four (4) sons – Aureluis Carthon, Bronx, New York; Steven Carthon of Dothan, AL; Ruben Carthon, Dothan, AL; Shawn (Mechelle) Carthon, Dothan, AL and one (1) daughter Tayla Hightower of Dothan, AL.  Ruben leaves love and memories in the hearts of his three (3) brothers—Richard (Parmilla) Carthon of Dothan, AL; Walter (Ella) Carthon, New Jersey: Melvin (JoAnne) Carthon of North Carolina; and two (2) sisters—Lucy Wiliams of Dothan, AL and Carolyn (Roscoe) Hicks of Ashford, AL; two (2) loving sisters-in-laws Young “Kim” Carthon and Ollie Jean Pinckney of South Carolina as well as one (1) brother-in-law Elijah Peterman of Florida.  He too leaves a legacy of 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
